This filter uses full-pleat, resin-impregnated micronic media that captures harmful particles, including metallic chips generated by abnormal engine wear. Oil passes through multiple layers of locked-in fibers to provide both surface and depth filtration without fiber migration into engine oil passages or bearing surfaces. The element is contained in a sealed disposable housing that incorporates an anti-drain back valve mechanism and an internal bypass valve. A heavy, corrugated steel center tube supports each convoluted pleat of the media and provides a collapse-pressure rating that is stated as twice that of other similar filters. A silicone-impregnated gasket is fitted to aid future removal from the engine. The can height is reduced by approximately 1/2 inch compared with a standard filter, and the overall length is referenced as about 4-3/4 inches. The filter is used on various aircraft including selected Cessna 320, 340, 401 and 402 models, as well as other installations where this size and thread configuration are specified. Packaging is described as 12 spin-on filters per corrugated shipping carton for bulk quantities, and the part carries FAA approval for aviation use.
